Our learning and unlearning through the last 3 years

Over the last three years, we have been guided by this question:

“How are we reinventing ourselves to attend to crumbling systems and accompany new beginnings?”

“To hear this task for what it is, to believe it as enough, to feel worthy of this tenderness and capable of this tending, is the journey.

And when the rain comes to wash away the tears, To wash away the ashes that have settled over our inner and outer worlds, We look up and out in wonder, arms outstretched, fingers wiggling, waking, upon contact. Water meeting earth.”

Mathura Mahendren

Questions have a spirit, questions are alive.

This might be the summary of we have learned over 10 years of doing participatory research, hosting group experiences, partnering with others to observe and transform communities and organizations.

We have been accompanying each other’s as systems crumble: within ourselves, our organizations, our communities. We watch systems fall apart and ask ourselves, what stays? What is the essence of who we are? What do we have to offer?

We find the way we used to live, and work do not hold anymore. We cannot sustain them. We find a need to come together, slow down, hear what Is not yet been said, accompany heartbeats. What do you want to do now?

We research our realities and create spaces for co-learning together with our partners.

Collaborating on a project is an invitation to meet.
To meet is to discovery the essence of our work, and to realize there is something deeper we can do when we come together.

Fos Feminista on Opposition: We co-designed and co-facilitated dialogues on the state of the opposition to bodily autonomy and how SRHR groups and activists are resisting. We also accompanied the Center for Sexual Integration and Youth Friendly Services in the definition of the centre's vision and workplan

We researched and wrote a booklet showcasing seven stories of locally-led development initiatives, crafted to inspire and guide UK institutional donors, NGOs, and philanthropic organisations towards fostering community-driven impact and empowerment.

Learning Agenda Youth Liveli-hoods: An Exploration of the links between youth livelihoods and human rights in West Africa. The project concluded with a learning agenda is to inspire curiosity, facilitate profound learning, and provide a roadmap for future research.

We conducted a Participatory Baseline process over the course of a year with women's funds, self-led feminist groups, and influential women's funds that shape the broader donor community.

We hosted a training to prepare WINGS members to formulate an advocacy strategy on promoting an enabling environment for civil society.

'What Moves Movements': A inquiry process commissioned by LCF to look at how funders can better support social change organisations/movements in the UK. A process which evolved dramatically as the fund that commissioned us (LCF) took the decision to close down within the next 5 years.

Magnify: A two week laboratory of personal and collective transformation we last hosted in Stromboli, Italy.

FRIDA Focal Point Manual: We developed a manual to consolidate organizational knowledge around the role of Focal Points, a role that enables FRIDA to support young feminist groups all over the world in a personable and approachable way.

Resourcing Connections: We carried out data analysis on FRIDA's Participatory grantmaking processes - we supported compiling all data into a multimedia website.

THE SEEDS WE PLANT GROW ROOTS: We produced a collection of creative pieces through a participatory evaluation using storytelling. The purpose of the evaluation was to assess the impact of the Women2030 program and celebrate all the partners, organisations and communities that took part in it over five years.

How do I take responsibility for the healing we need as a shared humanity?

This is the question that will drive the next phase of our work.
