There is a powerful word that is often used loosely or inaccurately defined: Diversity. This is something Magnify has come to be well known for. With different personalities, backgrounds, cultures and perspectives on day to day aspects such as cleaning, cooking and communicating, there have been moments of laughter, tension and just plain silliness. Unusually, this piece is going to be about the tension – and it shall in no way serve as a marketing ploy :p

Imagine a world where young people live in one house, in something of a “Big Brother” or “Real World” set up, with a constant stream of activities, and basically no free time to check your sanity! This can obviously bring about isolated moments of drama, personality clashes and other forms of tension. The most interesting aspect for me has been observing that you can’t even separate the differences in terms of gender, race or geographic disposition.

It’s quite interesting observing what you’d argue about or be irritable with despite being in a different environment and mindset. There variant ways in which we deal with things, which is something that is not often explicitly discussed, unless there is a psychologist involved. Magnify lived true to its unpredictable nature, when everyone sat down to discuss the tensions that had been brewing over a perceived sense of unequal distribution of cleaning responsibility as if we were a set of ingredients. As ever, the pot was brewing with some chilli burning, the tomatoes listening and the Bacardi showing up unexpectedly.

Ultimately, different people had different ways of responding to the situation. Looking in the room, some left with a smirk or smile, whilst the queens shared the additional gossip they had just sourced and others displayed a sense of their feelings being “yet-to-be-determined”. All in all, it was a great experience to take part in what could probably end up in a “Real Housewives of New Jersey” finale episode, with a little more maturity and an additional flashback to look at in the years to come when we all reflect back on the experience that is Recrear Magnify 2015.
