A spontaneous happening on a random Tuesday evening enabled us to tap into a different level of consciousness and shared understanding of three individuals in our group. This was brought about through the sharing of stories and life lessons via one on one interviews, in front of an audience of familiar people, inspired by the queen of talk herself, Oprah Winfrey.

Under the trance of the stars that overlook Montreal, the group huddled in a semi-circle form to experience musings of three great souls. The intentions were non-existent, interview questions were devised on the spot.

This mellow yet exciting departure from the usual conference activities brought about out new perspectives on the people we had been interacting with over the past few days. The experience ranged from learning about someone’s childhood years and its implications over the years to come, or another individual’s perspective on resilience and love created a moment of soulful introspection. This moment was crafted in a manner characterised by empathy, positivity and affirmation that the lives we lead are of value and contain great treasures, and that our surroundings can never define us.

As we transitioned from perspective to perspective, the audience was enthralled by the different ways in which people perceive life and what drives them. This was a cream to the cake, a delicate ending to a multi-course meal. An experience recorded but never to be felt again, unless one taps into their memory. Moments like these are what define certain aspects of our lives, and most importantly, we learnt that sharing one’s story can have unimaginable influences on others.
