The best part about these kind of initiatives is often the quiet moments in between official sessions, when young people get to engage with each other on day to day issues such as marriage, intercontinental differences and reflections on activities. This, I have come to learn, cements the friendships created and brings value to the opportunities for collaboration and improvement in the work that we do. As a part of Magnify, we had the chance to explore a little more of Montreal, beyond an introduction to a group of people engaged in development work who came to lead sessions at Sauve House. This included the following:
Attending different shows such as an album launch, Columbian festival and Jazz club.
Going to the weekly cultural event of Tam Tam (where most of Montreal lounge, have fun and meet up at a park), in especially with all the eye candy one gets to see as a result of the heat summer brings 😉
Exploring the Gay Village, interacting with Drag Queens and 24hour food joints.
Using the vibrant Metro and comparing it to others in Europe or the public transport back in our respective homes.
All in all, we encountered shared dreams and a field full of possibilities!
